V. Opening up the Pig

Task # 7
Homework:
1. Discuss the task of opening up the pig. Include the following in your discussion:
*Tools/Techniques that were successful in opening the pig
*Problems encountered in the procedure
*Biggest surprise when you looked inside
2. Compare and contrast procedures used in opening the clam, crayfish, starfish and pig.

SIMILARITES

1.When we opened the clam we had to pull open the shell and on the pig we had to pull open the flaps of skin that we cut.
2.When we opened the starfish we had to cut away a flap of skin just like on the pig.
3.When we opened the crayfish we went in through the abdomen area just like we did on the pig.

DIFFERENCES

1.When we opened the clam we had to cut the adductor muscles to get its shell to open. On the pig we didn't have to cut any muscles just skin.
2.When we opened the starfish we started at the leg and worked in toward the center but in the pig we just started in the center on the abdomen.
3.When we opened up the crayfish we had to get through the hard exoskeleton before we could get to its organs. On the pig we didn't have to go through a hard exoskeleton before we got to its organs.
